Welcome to the National Aging in Place Council Website

The National Aging in Place Council is a membership organization founded on the belief that an overwhelming majority of older Americans want to remain in their homes for as long as possible, but lack awareness of home and community-based services that make independent living possible. Coordination amongst various stakeholder groups from the aging, healthcare, financial services, legal, design and building sectors is essential in order to meet the needs of our growing aging population to remain living in their housing of choice.

NAIPC's primary mission is to provide an ongoing forum for professionals from the private, public and non-profit sectors to work together to promote aging in place. Secondly, we hope to encourage senior citizens, recent retirees, and Baby Boomers to be proactive in planning for their future housing and care needs, and provide ideas and information to help them do so.

Start An Aging In Place Week Event

NAIPC is pleased to announce that planning is now underway for our Third Annual National Aging In Place Week consumer education campaign scheduled for November 6-12, 2005.

Last November, NAIPC successfully coordinated activities in 30 locations across the country to generate increased awareness of public and private sector programs, including healthcare, housing and other support services, that promote independent living.

Professionals from the aging, healthcare, financial services and building sectors banded together to form local Aging In Place Coalitions to coordinate activities. Each Coalition hosted seminars and resource fairs to encourage senior citizens, recent retirees, and Baby Boomers to be proactive in thinking about their future housing and care needs, and provide ideas and information on how to do so. If you would like to form an Aging In Place Council, please utilize our “starter kit” as a resource guide.
